    Family Creation - Basic Series

So I've decided to make the next series of tutorials on my blog a family creation basics series and I think I've got a good list so far of what all to go over (remember these are less instructional and more quick reference, 5 minutes videos). I wanted to see what others would like to see included in this series, since TotD is after all based on user request

    So far:

    Thoughts, comments, open for discussion.

I'm going to add this ToC for the series and continue posting the new posts as I publish them. This way you don't have to go to the end for every new post

    ToC:
    RevitTotD – 5.4.2011 | Making families are FUN! 1.1
Revit TotD – 5.12.2011 | Immediate, Extended and RHSC Families 2.1
Revit TotD – 2.8.2021 | Somewhere to Start Families 2.2

    TIA,

pS, if this is better suited in Tutorials thread, please move.

First post of the series. Introductory post. Intermediate users will most likely find this... boring. Except for one little thing I added in the video that I kind of found o.O .

Sweet, so to make a type catalog in 2012, just export the family to a text file? Is it really that simple??
Can you add more sizes in the text file itself?

Yep it is really that simple. The text file gives you the basic format and syntax for the type catalog. You can add lines to the type catalog with a text editor or if you really want to be fancy (and more efficient) you can use Excel. Then when you are all done adding your types, place the txt file in the same folder with the RFA family. now when you try to load that family you will get the types to load dialog and you will select from the type catalog.

    Hi Dan.

You might want to check out this blog post http://revitfb.blogspot.com/2011/05/...toreditor.html

You can't get any simpler than that
