This may be a bit of topic but I use a "symbol family" with nested 2d items for annotation legends and plan legends (symbols) and yes phases for 3d items. How are you guys doing it?

How well has the unit cloud worked for MEP? I've been doing some work recently on modular projects where everything is part of the module. Not all of the vent and drain locations are the same from floor to floor for a variety of reasons. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations or even just things to consider regarding this?

I personally dont think id do MEP in the Unit Cloud. I would just do everything in the buildings. But thats me.

I think you just answered your own question. If they're different, they can't be in the unit cloud. You could, however, use the unit cloud to start the process (placing all of the typicals, etc.) and maintain changes until you need to make things non-specific at which point you could remove in place or ungroup.

Is it possible though to make this concept work? The modules are all being being built in a factory. Many of them are shipping containers. I want to be able to say yes or no to the team and give them solid reasons as to why or why not.

Groups are generally a dead end as soon as you deal with connections and circuiting/systems. Maintaining them as the groups come into contact with other elements will usually break the groups. They are effective to deploy conceptual layouts but once engineering stuff starts (if it does) all bets are off.

Conceptual will work. The unit to unit connections are all done on site anyway.
