Getting hosted fixture to cut through ceiling

Hi all, I have a unique recessed fixture I'm trying to use (attached) and I'm not sure if it's my fixture or the fact that I'm trying to host it to a roof (my linked model), but the fixture won't cut the roof/make an opening. Attached family and image for reference. Any ideas how I can get the fixture to create an opening?
