    Basic(?) Panel by Pattern

    Hi All,

I'm attempting to make what I thought would be a fairly simple panel shape, but I can't work out how to keep a centre point/line in a rectangle.

All I want is a rectangle panel with a line in the centre I can offset:

Whenever I change the grid shape the centre line moves out of position, and any attempt I've made to keep it in the middle just throws up 'constraints not satisfied' errors and shifts the line:

How do you constrain things with this type of family? It seems totally polar to the normal family creation process...

I'm hoping this is an easy fix and I've missed something obvious, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Place a point hosted on a line, and you can control where it's placed as a ratio. Choose 0.5 as the ratio, and it will be the middle point.

Connect two points, and your have a middle line

Worked this out literally 2 minutes after posting here, after struggling with it for hours

I placed 2 new points at the mid-points of the existing ref lines, then created 2 new offset points based on those:

Didn't see the ratio option, but I'll check it out - thanks!

Make the ration option a parameter, and you can have panels that change their angle based on that. Allows you to nudge your design in the direction you want, if you're into that kind of stuff.
