What do you want to achieve? If you change the grid to 2D extents, you can modify the extents the way you want on a per view basis. It can extend out from the crop region. Just click on the small 3D sign, and rightclick on the grid.

    From the help:

The grid in my model is actually in a revit linked file, no way to manipulate it.
But, my issue is: in a cropped view plan (floor plan) the grid is extended out of the crop area to a fixed length. If I resize the Annotation crop, grid don't chage. I want that lengh to be zero, so out of the crop area to be only grid IDs, otherwise I cannot fit the building in 4 sheets 48"X36".
    See attached.

    Thanx!Click image for larger version.

I think it's not possible to change this length. If you lock the ends of the grid together you have to modify this once for each side for each page.

Also try to use a scope box, it makes crop region management much easier: https://revitpure.com/blog/10-tips-t...it-scope-boxes

You can assign a smaller scope box to the grids, so the length of the grids won't depend on the crop of a view, but from a scope box.

Also check out the porpagate extents command, if you can't use a scope box for this: https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2...0-7C01163078CC

Sometimes? Other than my checking views, I always have them off...using view filters

How do you filter the grids from a linked file? I'm looking for others' solution.

I assigned a scope box to the grids in my file than I could filter for scope box. Other option is to change or rename the type of the grid in my file and filter for that, but it could mess up copy/monitoring, and can generate false positives. Or add a parameter to all grids and filter for that.

You cannot filter for linked file name.

Make a unique named type for the grids in your file that you know won't exist in the other files. Filter by type does not equal name.

Turn off their shared levels and grids workset. Reject their file if the levels and grids are not on the proper workset

I simply turn off grids for all linked files in visibility graphics.
