copy/monitor doors & windows from linked model (2019)

is there a way to copy/monitor doors and windows from a linked model. i am working on a hotel project and the rooms are linked models. i would like to copy/monitor doors and windows that are a part of said rooms so that i may change and schedule the door # (mark). i can schedule the doors in my host model but it does not allow me to edit the door # (mark).

Copy/Monitor doesn't deal with those categories.

The Mark parameters are stored with the element, you'd have to number them correctly in their own file so tags in a hosting file can show their values in tags and schedules.

I saw similar posts at other forums. Looks like you've gone down the units as links rabbit hole and now need or want to tag doors individually while they are all the same doors.

I saw one reply at the Autodesk forums suggesting changing the category to something Batch Copy/Monitor supports. On the surface that's intriguing but it will add a lot of overhead to dealing with doors. Each link has its own C/M relationship so if you have a couple hundred units you'll have to do the batch copy and review for each unit...over and over. You'll also likely end up with many versions of the same family in the project browser, family name and type names like Door 1 - 36x84 1, Door 2 - 36x84 2, Door 3 - 36x84 3 and so on.

I'd move the corridor walls and doors into the shell model so they can be tagged and dealt with as individuals. The doors inside each room can be identified by type instead.
