    Question Sync/Syncing vs Synch/Synching

This has turned into as big of a debate as we've ever had in my office so I'm curious as to which camp everyone else falls into:

    Is it 'Sync' or 'Synch'?
    Is it 'Syncing' or 'Synching'?

In short, when abbreviating the words 'synchronize' and 'synchronizing' do you include the 'h' or do you omit it?

According to most blogs and websites, both spellings of both abbreviations are acceptable with no clear consensus one way or the other on which is most proper. In Revit itself, the synchronization window says 'Sync' and 'Syncing', so I tend to subscribe to the 'h omitted' camp myself. This has turned into a very heated subject in our office though with many saying that you have to include the 'h' since it is part of the original word and/or outright saying that Revit is incorrect.

I added a poll because this is a very serious issue.

I thoroughly fall in the camp of "who cares?"

    LOL.

Ironically, i still sometimes ask people to STC, from the days when Revit called it "Save to Central" instead of "Sync to central." I forget what year they made that change, but it wasnt that long ago.

Since the nomenclature change, i tend to call it Sync (ive ever once typed Synch, except just now). If for nothing else than its one less letter to type, and why would we want to type more? And since they named the popup dialogue that shows up during BIM360 synchronizations "Sync with Central" i'm going with that.

    =)

Sync is pronounced JIF! Synch is cinch not cinq

I use SwC more often when abbreviated, when StC went away.

Very interesting, have never even heard someone call it StC or SwC and if I saw that I wouldn't even know what they were talking about.

Orly? Man, a lots changed since i've been gone. People there used to IM each other all the time like "OMG will you SWC already!!!" I guess now theyre all on Instagram or something. #Sync(h)?

EDIT: So it looks like it was the 2010 release: IN 2009 you still had the STC (Save to Central) command. In 2010 you got SWC (Sync with Central) as insult to injury on getting the totally busted 2010 ribbon. LOL.

Sync often turns into Sunk which turns into bad Titanic puns which sometimes turns into stopping work for a moment to appreciate Sabaton's music.

By the way: Whomever says it should be "synch" should also realize that means they are saying that (basically) the entire Software industry is wrong:

    BoxSync
    Windows Sync Center
    GoodSync
    Allwaysync
    Sync.com
    Litesync
    FreeFileSync
    EverySync
    Resilio Sync
    SyncFolders
    Syncthing

But i did find ONE that uses the h:

    Synchredible

    So.... yeah.

I've learnt to not care because Revit has plenty of incorrectly spelled words, being made in the US and all
"Color" is another one I've learnt to live with, especially when searching Dynamo nodes lol.

BTW, when typing I usually use 'sync' and 'syncing' because it's one less keystroke

Couldn't you make your own nodes that have the 'correct' spellings?
