    Question The Ultimate Revit Wish

Autodesk decided, regardless of complexity, to implement only one of your Revit wishes. Which one do you choose?

Create your own categories with your own rules.

This sound good at first glance, but will become a huge pain in the ass for sure when collaborating with other parties. For example I have filters setup in my template that turn off the piping and ducts from linked models in some views which instantly won't work anymore when the MEP guy decides to call the category something else. Or I filter out Entourage on my plans and when if somebody at the office decides to put his people in his custom category called 'people' and all of a sudden they pop up in all my drawings. I'm happy enough with the categories there are and the use of sub-categories.

Yes i agree, it just creates another variable to everyones workflow, allowing for more project polution.
I think the current categories are fine.

have a decent text editor maybe? or be able to insert excel spreadsheets ( there are some companies which are developing this I don't understand why Autodesk don't do the same )

We have a payed library and plugins set from Itannex it has part of the Aga-cad Tools 4 Revit, it does have an import Excel function, but really it should be in Revit from launch.

Pretty sure autocad has that function build in right?

I like how in the new forum post section this post implies that AutoCAD has had coffee for ages.

For the most part. There are a select few categories that should be added though. Elevators are the big one.
