    hi
excuse me for the newbie question but i'm wandering what does the parameter "label" when editing a family (not annotation) should be used for?
i searched on internet but the word is sued for so many things that i didn't succeed to do an efficeient search
    thanks

The label property allows you to associate a family to a <Family Type> parameter, which allows you to swap nested families out in the project.

For example, I have a door family, which has nested door leafs associated to the <Family Type> parameter. In the project I can swap that family, via that parameter, to be solid or various glass arrangements.

Not all nest families will have a label property set.

You are talking about the "Label" drop down on the edit bar when selecting a nested family in the family editor, correct?

This gives a bit of an overview: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/suppo...03FF1-htm.html

I don't have a simple one close to hand to share. Is there something specific you are trying to achieve, or are you just trying to understand how it works?

    great!!!
i had an issue dealing with this : 2 voids (one cylinder and one rectangular) in one family and it was impossible to manage (i cheated to have a good visual draft)
i'll have a look to this but it seems to be really interesting what a good idea to ask this question!!
    thanks
