    Question Masking in Families?

    Hello.

I have this gas meter family with two connectors and a symbol https://imgur.com/a/LMphLB1 .

In coarse view, I would like it to be shown as a symbol only and the pipe connecting to it https://imgur.com/dugByWG (Red is how I want it to look).

When I do that, the pipe/drop interferes with the family which looks messy (Blue). I want it to be shown like that (in red), where I use masking region to achieve that. However, I'm unable to hide the pipes with the masking region. Anyone knows what am I doing wrong?

Not masking regions, use visibility settings (detail level) for parts of the family.

I believe its the Pipe underneath the object, and the Vertical Riser symbol of the pipe is showing regardless.

The problem with a masking region is that it affects only the family and what is below the family. An element that connects to the top of the gas meter (the pipe) would exist above the family and would not be masked by your annotation. In order to achieve the look you want, the pipe would need to connect to the family in a plan north (i.e up) orientation and below the top extent of the family.

This how the family looks. Also, I have have the masking region above the top of my gas family at 3' above. I'm able to mask it, but only in realistic view.
