    custom wall types

    Hello,
long time between posts, but this time I need help but I think I might know how already.
I need to produce a custom wall all the wall need to consist of is a metal sheath and a 1 7/8" interior insulation with vapor barrier. I am planning on modifying a existing wall type after I duplicate it of course with the basic structure I need however the problem comes in with the exterior metal sheath how do I make it look correct ... tried a change to the materials but to no avail. thank you all who respond in advance.

What do you mean exactly by ''making it look correct''?
You want the metal sheets to show a more detailed profile? Or you just want to use a different material with another pattern on it?

Sorry so late a reply long day, I have been trying different patterns and jpg. for exterior so it will appear more correct to the original building I simply can not get this close enough to be happy with it so I am saying a more detailed vertical pattern when viewed in elevation or 3d views. and Thank you for your reply it is appreciated.

If making a pattern of the metal sheeting is proving to difficult, you could:
A: use 2d elements in the elevation view to make it look correct in those.
B: make a 3d element (a family) of the metal sheet and use that in your model.

Personally i would prefer to make a 3D family from it. A family. But you could also use model in place. When using model in place i would recommend to model them all in 1 model in place object. Because copying a model in place will make it another family thus cluttering your family browser.

If you're creating your own pattern, I'd recommend downloading pyRevit
    https://github.com/eirannejad/pyRevit/releases
They've got a tool named Make Pattern.
Basically, you draw what you want, and then say "Make this into a pattern"
