    Attaching hanger to pipes

    Hi

I try to build a hanger family that would be attached to pipes and in a second time adjusted to the support (ceiling, wall or floor).

I can build complicated families but I don't know MEP world

So I start with a pipe (duct) accessory with two linked connectors glued back to back (d=0).

It works but I find it a little weird because it cuts pipes... The goal would be to benefit from the Revit calculation possibilities in following processes.

Is it a good solution ?

Why have connectors in a hanger family? It doesn't make sense unless you want to "cut" the pipes.

The goal is to insert the family on the pipes, moreover the ring can get the pipe diameter.

But the drawback is that it cuts the pipe indeed ..

Magicad already has a plugin for pipe supports and ventilation supports, and cable trays.
I am pretty sure their family is ceiling face based and does not contain connectors, but it calculates height and placement from the radius of the pipe and the placement relative to ceiling above. No idea how it works but it does work very nicely.

Thanks, it looks fine but I can't impose this solution to the firm.

I have made what you describe (support or hanger adjusted to the duct) based on a 2level GM.

An alternative could be based on the duct (my question) but I don't know if the fact that the duct is cutted by "nul" accessories (ie with 2 connectors glued back to back) is a problem or if it's "transparent" in flood calculations, this is my question.

I'm almost positive that you shouldn't have any connectors in the hanger family as it is not a part of the air system.
