Detach an element without specifying what its being detached from

When you detach an item, like a wall from a roof for instance, you always have to specify the exact item you want to detach it from before you can proceed. This can sometimes be problematic in complex projects, because its either attached to multiple objects, or you need to find the right view to do so. It's not always readily apparent. This is driving me crazy. Is there an option to just detach it from all elements, without having to specify which ones?

Once you click Detach, there is a button in the Option Bar (below the ribbon) that says Detach All.
