Hello Everyone;

I thought I would begin - slowly - to learn about Revit macro programming and in creating Add-ons.

I have downloaded a couple of lessons like "Your First Revit Addin" and in those lessons they used Visual Studio to create the addin. I like the Autosense (think that is what it is called) and other features of Visual Studio.

I have also looked at the macro side of things and noticed that Revit's Macro IDE is based on SharpDevelop (Revit 2019). An internet search has revealed that SharpDevelop is a dead program - no future development is occurring.

So my question is, can the SharpDevelop IDE be replaced with Visual Studio? If so, how?

Sincerely;
Michelle
