Hi all, I am currently working in a family > generic model and trying to extrude support on the side of this small structure. However, the two beams on the side are supposed to be slightly longer and taller in extrusion than the middle and left ones. Is there a way to only grab the two on the right and slightly raise their "Extrusion Ends" because all 6 are currently at the same heights? Thank you
The only way I can think of completing this right now is creating a new extrusion, trace over the two beams on the right side and make that length higher, then to delete the two beams on the right in the original extrusion? It feels like this might be a little too difficult too because I'm dealing with a few 1/4th circles of different radii and random floating centers for the radii. Thank you!
If all the sketches are in one extrusion, no. You could cut off the excess at the "shorter" portion with a void. You could also create profile families for each shape and then create sweeps using those profiles but that would be starting over.
Examples like this are exactly why I discourage people from creating disparate elements in one Sketch.
People in our office also tend to sketch Ceilings for multiple rooms in one huge sketch.
It's not really any easier to create everything in one sketch as opposed to each one being separate, and having everything in one eliminates the possibility to change just one or two.
Putting them all in one sketch also:
1. Means the tag goes to the centroid of ALL of the rooms (sucks)
2. Means its "one object" downstream, for Coordination, scheduling, quantifying, etc.
3. Has the POTENTIAL for needing to destructively edit it later, to split it up.
There are zero upsides to putting multiple elements in one *thing*. Yuck.
Thank you! I separated each of the extrusions by height. More time consuming, but less time consuming in a way but naturally works out better in case of other extrusions happen in the future. Thanks
