Excellent. You should put this in a sticky as a checklist for everyone to refer to.
This is the only thing I disagree with.. Level based can be set to Place on Workplane with one check box. In my experience so far, if its content for MEP engineers, we tend to avoid FB or hosted like the plague. This is because we always work with linked arch models and there is a lot of repetition (copy/paste) which is a real pain with FB. But I think it depends on how people work and both options are valid. If only it was easy to convert hosted to/from non-hosted...
Man where are the pipes
Anybody using bimobjects?

I would go the other way... no shared parameters. It's easy enough to hook up the family parameters to your own shared parameters that I'd rather do that than have to convert the shared parameters I don't want to family parameters.
I'd also assume, based on when Aaron replied, that there might be a preference for unhosted content so it will perform better in groups... at least until Autodesk fixes the problems with hosted content and groups. Aaron if that's not correct let us know -- also, thanks for figuring that out!
We have developed some great tools that will help with Revit Family Creation. Please reply if you are interested. Thank you
Don't forget to add https://www.iacacoustics.global/hvac-attenuators/
They also supply duct sound attenuators, worth checking out for sure
